Well, Datactics called at 11:20 and offered me the job, and said "can you be here at 13:30?" so I've already started :)
yay
all over with now, good day, The Streets do little for me, but everyone else was good, got photos of all the acts, except ash, cos I was being sore and fed up fighting just to stand still by that stage, pity, I should've got a photo of colin murray snogging tim wheeler from ash, photos are 'ere, so obviously I got the camera in alright, security when checking my backpack saw the camera bag in it, asked "what's that?" and I just said "camera", nothing else done about it :) anyway, some of the photos good, some bad, mostly came out well I think
if you emailed me yesterday (thursday) can you do so again pls? I likely didn't get it
I think I was potentially right to try and protect the useless ... he just thinks I'll be fine

Hi bbc person, I'm just trying to get some confirmation on this, the
original question I'd sent to other bbc person was if I could bring an
SLR camera, I'm an amateur photographer, but it could be considered some
serious equipment. Now that I've got my tickets, they say on the back of
them that cameras are allowed, but not professional stuff. Also the
website now says (on the information about the event) that cameras
aren't allowed at all, can you shed any light on the matter for me?
Thanks in advance
I was on telly, and the bbc new site :)
see second picture here (no, I'm not in the avril picture ;) and a version of it to help point me out here
are got :) handed to me by Colin Murray himself. Left Belfast at 0230, got to Derry at 0330 (~70 miles, not a bad average speed considering the max at any point on the way is meant to be 70 :), 0400 had worked out where I needed to go, parked, and was in the queue to join the queue (yes, chaos trying to be contained, most people had come straight from the pub, and had lots of booze with them), once I was in the main queue itself, there were about 2500 people in front of me, according to some of the security types around, so I was pretty much assured tickets, as there were 10,000 available and a limit of 2 per person. The ticket office was due to open at 0800, but the queue had more than enough people for all the tickets before that, so it opened at 0715 or so, which was handy.
During the course of the evening there was this mad eejit

at about 0550, it was very cold
and then as I was leaving, at 0745, there were still hundreds of people queueing to get in the queue

This is around the block from Guildhall Square, and who knows how far up it was going, all the tickets were pretty much claimed, or had someone in the queue to claim by this stage
0805 and I was doing 70 back towards Belfast on the Glenshane Pass, was much more traffic to contend with, so it took more than an hour to get home, then we've the fun of getting there and back again next sunday for the thing itself!
Few things on the way, so may as well cover them all now
new HDs for Pisces are on the way, 3 36gb u160 scsi drives, and a new scsi card, lee's the person to thank for this, and is getting free hosting for life out of it (though we'd arranged for him paying for a few months a few days before making that deal, so I win twice ;).
Late tomorrow night/very early friday morning, I'm driving to Derry, tickets for the "band day" at One Big Weekend are gettable from 8am, so I intend to be there at that time, rather, a few hours before that time, just to make sure, only a 70 mile or so drive, each way, just need to find somewhere to park in the city at whatever hour I get there at, and that won't want me to pay for a ticket come 8am.
Sunday 25th is the day of the actual thing itself, gates open at 11am, so that'll be another early morning trip north-west, though nowhere near as early I'd say. Plus the beeb have said it's okay to bring cameras (well, I asked if I can show up with an SLR with zoom etc, they said "it's okay to bring cameras", so we'll see if they complain or not, I have a name and number for the guy who said it was okay :)
Also Friday 23rd, I interview for the Technical Engineer position here, a real job again will be nice
Sometime inbetween all this, when the new drives arrive, pisces will be down to get them installed and all the data copied over, so it'll be a brand new install, then old data copying, so if you use pisces and summat's not working, you'll probably need to poke me about it
update to the previous, now have it running as a cron script, and got it sorting the listings alphanumerically, which is a bit better than it used to be, but still not perfect, though I can't really think of an automated way to make it perfect, anyway, rdf is sitll in the same place as last time, enjoy, if it's of any use to you
