I know I generally don't rant on here, but I think this needs some additional airing
there's a proposed ban on photography in the subway, now this is so hugely dumb, I just want to smack people. NYC street and people photography is such a huge cultural part of what people see of the place, and something I'd love to do myself, as when I was there, it was before I was getting big into this stuff, but now, I'd love to take a load of B&W rolls around the place. What's worst, they're doing this in the interest of "security", because obviously anyone wanting to monitor the subway for any strategic purposes is going to be sitting with an SLR camera and being an enthusiast about it, not using something that doesn't look like a camera, or can easily be concealed, cos they'd never think of that.
seriously, wtf, please fix this, you're letting them trade away what culture you have that people see, other than movies
DUMB
Right, persuaded gpsdrive to load the track of where my gps has been, and plot it on the map for me :) so in case you want to see where Kinnago Bay (where I was not long ago, see previous entries) is, it's at the top left of this track, clicky for full sized version, and have a laugh at some placenames :)

replaced today, cost waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, cos they used proper BMW parts, but that means there's a 2 year guarantee and stuff, so much sweet silence compared to the last week, sounds better than ever, but I might be imagining that. it also seems to be going rather better, so it's possible the exhaust that was put on when I bought it (cos it had a stupidly loud boi racer one on it) was horribly put on, with bits welded onto the car instead of having proper brackets and stuff :P
